Cascina Massara Verduno Pelaverga
Really interesting and rare find from the Piedmont. Never had pelaverga before but I really like it. This 2017 is 5 years old and upon opening fills the glass with bright strawberry scents alongside some white pepper. As it stays open and warms up, I’m smelling new leather, and the bright strawberries have turned bruised. The color blends a rustic red with ruby. Thin oxidized blood. Good medium tannins and very light body, reminiscent of a Pinot noir. Strawberry stays dominate as I drink. Very cool.
