Upfront confession. This is my absolute most favorite winery in Napa. The Clarke family are super people (not to mention Spencer and Amizetta are from Texas). This wine is a beautiful deep ruby leaning almost to purple in color. Great hints of dark fruit, baking spices, cedar and leather on the nose. On the palate there are fantastic flavors of blueberries, black plums, dark cherries, cocoa and dark chocolate. The tannins are fully ripe and sweet. A very balanced wine with a long fruity finish. On top of making great wines they have an unparalleled view of Lake Hennessey from their outdoors tasting area. The only thing that would make this wine better is if I was sitting there enjoying it with the Clarke’s.

The nose is beautiful, expressive, open, cocoa, dark choco. The palate is lush, with well integrated oak on the mid and finish. Has density with subtle tannins. Fun wine to pop with good people.

This is a wonderful Cab - had an opportunity to taste side by side with the unreleased 2013 at a special winemaker dinner last night. This was served with a huckleberry dish and paired very nicely. The 2012 is very balanced with very well rounded tannins. Nice red berry fruit flavors with depth and length. We were told that the grapes for this bottling are grown in one block at the highest part of the estate. Very limited production. Both vintages were excellent with the 2013 obviously still a bit young. Excellent string of vintages in Napa.
