Alta Vista
Estate Malbec
Founded in 1997 and owned by the d'Aulan family, former owners of the Piper-Heidsieck Champagne house. A nice example of Argentina Malbec if you have not tried one. Aged in American oak for 6 months, fresh fruit aromas and exciting spice notes. On the palate flavors of cherry and sweet plum adding vanilla spice with a bit of pepper. Fine tannins, medium length ending with spicy character. Nice value. Tasting Sample.

Oct 9th, 2018Good stand-alone. Interesting, murky in a great way, consistent.

Apr 12th, 2016Pretty long decant — almost two hours?
NOSE: mineral water…crayon…raisins...carob. Muted.
TASTE: nice mouthfeel, little more fruit than the nose, acidity balances - smooth cassis and blackberry, clay. Well made. On my scale, this squeaks into a 91!

Very dark garnet with a slight edge that’s transparent. Nose of black fruit, some earth, and spices. Medium plus body, medium tannins and some acidity but on the dry side. Fruits are dark, maybe blackberry & black plum. Some earth as well, maybe a touch of leather.
