Alpha Box & Dice
Tarot McLaren Vale Grenache
2nd visit, solid closure this time around. A lovely bit of spice rack on the palate, takes a while for the nose to open up, but when it does bright and fruity.

Jun 19th, 2015A poor screw cap closure spoiled this one, such a shame.
My tasting notes nonetheless, soapy and vinegar.

This Alpha Box & Dice ‘Tarot’ 2018 Grenache was in last months #thetcwineclub box. Having gone through a Wiccan phase as a teen (I even had tarot cards!), this wine naturally jumped out at me 🧙♀️ We also recently saw the new Fantastic Beasts movie 👌
Alpha Box & Dice produce great and very interesting wines. This one is made from McLaren Vale grown Grenache grapes. It bears the ‘Death Card’ on the label because the Alpha team brought the Grenache vines back to life after they had been neglected.
More fun details about the wine:
🍇 Undergoes whole bunch fermentation
🍇 Carbonic maceration
🍇 Long lees aging in tank & puncheon
If your not sure what any of those terms mean, pop them in google and learn something new 💡
In the glass it’s a brilliant crimson colour. Red fruits, tar, bay leaves and raspberry jello entice the nostrils. While in the mouth it’s juicy and full of flavour. It’s like a medley of black, red and blue berries with a sprinkling of white pepper. Y〰️U〰️M!
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy! #gifted #opinionsaremyown #tcweekdaywine

Philly natural wine #2. Carbonic Grenache had me dreaming of the carbonic Cab Franc from the Texas High Plains with @Brendan Devine. This doesn’t quite reach that rarefied air, but it’s good. Earthy, spicy tannins, and red fruits. Served chilled, would recommend.

Jan 3rd, 2020Light style of Grenache, very different. Was worried with the screw cap closure that “popped” on opening but the wine seemed in good health despite this.
