Alex Foillard
Cote de Brouilly Gamay
Very high toned and pretty nose. That “natural” thing, spices, sour cherries, mid season cherries, floral, cinnamon. A knockout nose. Palate is less fruity than nose suggests. Pure, clean and juicy. Complex, pure and balanced. Very very drinkable and in the zone. Barely there tannins and very fresh.

Jan 14th, 2019Thanksgiving week with my in-laws.
Nose has higher toned blue/red fruits (raspberry, blackberry, under-ripe cherry), dried citrus peel, wet granite and light moist earth.
Palate has bright black cherry, blackberry, blood orange flesh, sweet-roasted red pepper, confectionery sugar and a medium-long finish. Perfect entry to the world.
Debut commercial vintage from a son of one of the Masters of Beaujolais, at long last, Alex Foillard is bringing his wines to the world. Starting with an epic hail vintage, supply was quite limited for much of the North. Luckily Bouilly and Côte de Brouilly had minimal damage. For those in the know, 2016 Burgundy's will be wines for the ages.

Quite a lot of volatile acidity. Otherwise a fine first vintage, no brett, maturing very slowly.

Jul 2nd, 2023Very nice Beaujolais. Lots of cherry. Slightly cloudy in the glass. Needs at least an hour decant to come together. Medium bodied, quite seamless, decent acid. Nice wine.

Mar 20th, 2021Tasty bojo, darkish fruit profile, wild berries, cranberry, black cherry— sauvage, bramble, delicate minerality. Balanced acids and feminine, soft tannin. Lovely
