One of my favorite Italian producers. First time trying their Barbara and I really enjoy it. Rich red fruits and a bit savory.

A standard Barbera by all metrics. Lacks some of the tar and cherry notes in the best examples of this grape. Better on day 2.

A veritable workhorse around pasta chefs, the first half of this bottle had been tasted in a half-dozen restaurants by chefs over the past six weeks, with very little oxidation. Time had come for the coup-de-grace at Chateau Vinebuzz in tonight's dinner with asparagus, chanterelles, and a simmered beef sauce over rotelli.

Seems like the perfect amount of bottle age for this wine. Soft and full with a food friendly balance of fruit and earth.

Lighter in body than the 2011, but every bit as good. How did MacArthur miss out on the 2012?!

Revealing a wonderfully expressive bouquet of dark fruits, licorice, sweet florals and minerals. On the palate, I found focused black cherry fruit with hints of spice and dark earth, which lasted well into the finish along with a juicy bump of brisk acidity that made the mouth water. This is a classically-styled Barbera that will give a lot of pleasure to fans of the old-world style.
