Weekly Wednesday wine committee. This week we had 1 sparkler, 3 whites, 3 reds, 1 dessert. All tasted blind as normal.

All 3 whites ended up being Viognier! I wanted to be gutsy and call it that way, but I thought “surely no one would serve 3 in a row”...I was wrong. I called this Rhône, specifically Marsanne/Roussanne as it picked up a very waxy note to it. It held a lot of orange blossom/citrus and is without a doubt the most unique Viognier I’ve ever had.

Still a little tight at this point I think there's upside potential here.

This is drinking exceptionally well. Not sure how much more it will improve, so if you have this in your cellar I’d recommending drinking it sooner rather than later.

An awesome viognier by John Alban (kinda like letting you know the sun is going to rise tomorrow). We tried it in a Riedel Vinum series cabernet glass, which really did enhance the aromatics, so I’d recommend giving that a shot. Beautiful honeyed color, white flowers and a trace of spice on the nose, I suspect this is going to improve sustantially with a couple of more years under its belt (but still terrific now).

I think this is a great viognier. Can't say for sure as I don't drink much of the grape. This wine is subtle with flowery fruit but also lots of cream and finish.
