A stunning nose that roars out of the glass…. Meat, iron, violets, sour cherry. Black pepper Fantastic. The palate doesn’t quite live up to the nose. Nice precise smoky fruit and a rather one dimensional finish. A wine of two halves.

High tone, peppery, tart and savory with classic northern Rhone Syrah notes. Complex, peppery, a bit meaty on the finish. A bit muddy or this would score higher but quite satisfying nonetheless.

Wow, difference in these two…Graillot…big sour/tart cherry, not a lick of blackcherry and razor acidity combined with the tart fruit…absolutely need food as not enjoyable by itself. Meat/pepper with smoke which I like…but perhaps to much semi carbonic as it felt it had some effervescence? Maybe flaw, maybe intentional but certainly a great conversation bottle…St cosme…tame and more black:red fruit, acid slightly less and overall more balanced…ive had 16 Graillot last year…don’t remember it being quite that acidic!

Granite and menthol, talcum, crushed black raspberry and cherry fruit, theres some potpourri mixed in with forest notes. The meat and olives are taking a step back. Love the crunch this still has at this point in its development. Tannins working nicely and harmonious across the palate, granular yet fine.

Legit old school northern Rhone. Dark, earthy, violet, licorice, rosemary, meat and crushed stones. Ripe and juicy, but with a floral lift and crunch on the finish. All the usual caveats apply (aerate, eat something) but very complete

Young, enjoyed over 3 nights. Captures the vintage well, found considerable “carbonic” character on day one, quite primary and loaded with fruity esters and some CO2. Aeration helped significantly, bloody meat, hot stones, olives, and plummy black fruit emerging. Love the acidity here, it has snap on the back end. Curious how my perceived change in house style at the domaine will play out with age in bottle, especially regarding Guiraude

Lots of bacon fat, game, savory notes. Sage. And more sage in the finish.
