Blend of mostly Carignano with Cab Sauvignon and Merlot, deep Ruby with aromas of ripe red fruits, floral and herb spice. On the palate flavors of ripe berries and currants, licorice, herb, cedar, cacao and black pepper. Firm tannins, long finish ending with fruit, herb and cedar spice. Drinking well now.

Apr 20th, 2021Crushed wild berries, violets, incense and sweet spices lift up from the 2016 Barrua. It is silky in texture with a polished display of red and black fruits, well balanced by tactile mineral notes that form toward the close. Hints of fine tannin linger throughout the pretty, purple-tinged finale. The 2016 could use another year or two to flesh out a bit, but I expect that it will always be a more lifted and leaner expression of Barrua. This is a blend of 70% Carignan, 10% Syrah, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc. (Eric Guido, Vinous, March 2021)

In a great place - dark cigar rapper, meaty and dark fruit all over. Fantastic and big wine.

Apr 22nd, 2019Quite rich and definitely some sweet tones. Dried red fruits dominant. Excellent acidity and finish. Really nice wine.

Jun 7th, 2018Made by the sassicaia team in sardinaia. This is a show stopper for sure. Hard to believe I'm selling this wine at $35 w free shipping. It's insane and im not just saying that because I sell it. It is that good. Full of brambly black fruit. Perfectly integrated and beautiful already. Give it a couple years to fully shine.

Dec 13th, 2017I love carignane. Red berry, leather, and herb. Dark coffee tannins on the end. This is lovely. Not very long but it's world class!

Oct 10th, 2017Sassicaia roots in Sardinia... I Had no idea how good this wine really is until I tried it the other night. Holy cow this is a heck of a wine. It bears some rusticity but it is clean to the bone. Aromas of blackberry, pencil lead, iron, fruitcake, leather and spice. with some savory notes as well. (With some time being open I find dried herbs, cured meats and the like) This beauty has a long finish of dark mocha chocolate and roasted coffee. Out of this world..... I carry this wine for a song, so let me know if you've had it or want any..:
