Adelsheim
Willamette Valley Pinot Noir

Wow! So primary and youthful. Beautiful red cherry fruit but loads of acidity and tannin behind it. Tart cranberry notes. This could go another 5-8 years at least.

Blue and black fruit, licorice, and berry compote. Lingers a bit.

In celebration of my sense of smell coming back, we opened this tonight and it was such a treat. Dark and rich on the nose with the soft tannins attributed to the acidity with goes for days.

Mixed blueberry and licorice root nose. Bright dark fruit, then licorice, then berries and black tea. Finish falls off a bit and wanted more acidity. That said, good for what it is.

May 17th, 2018Tonight I am going back to one of my favorite areas for Pinot Noir, the Willamette Valley. This is the first time trying the Adelsheim Winery though I have heard great things about them. On the nose we get strong fruit forward aromas of strawberry, cherry, raspberry and a moist morning dew soil. The red fruit continues through to the palate. The strawberry & raspberry continue though a bit on the light side. There is a smooth mouth feel with a nice acidity and minerality notes. The acidity helps in the length of this Pinot which I truly like.

Appearance: Glossy magenta and clear at the rim, medium-light body
Nose: Getting very little in the way of aromatics but baking spices and earthiness
Taste: On open there was some bitterness that faded about 2 hours open in bottle to enhance some of the violet, blue fruit notes and some crunchy tannins; similar structure I taste in some lighter Beaujolais, which I like.
Overall very enjoyable wine that will probably improve with a couple more years, but would favor a few other options in the same or lower price range ($28 here) - #Goodfellowfamilycellars #WalterScottWine

Cinnamon and cardamon, sour fruit on the nose. Ripe and and juicy in the midpalate with blueberry and black berry.

Solid entry-level AVA Pinot Noir of the more fruit-forward variety. Lifted, aromatic, sensual black fruit profile with plenty of weight and spice character. Not a terrible amount of complexity, verve or acidity but a nice effort that is fairly priced and ready to drink now.
