These are the oldest vines in Europe. Many over 100. Almost all over 70. Aged in giant Brazilian Oak barrels. Usually around 5yrs. Best w/ at least 15yrs. Tannins and structure of a Cab. Subtle ness of an earthy Pinot or Burgundy. Different.

Tiny production Ramisco (7,000 bottles) from own-rooted centurion vines on sand dunes outside Lisboa. Aged 3 years in hundred year-old Brazilian oak foudre - wha???

Beautiful wine, tart cherry, dried herbs, a little of that ol' saddle leather too. Moroccan lamb fits the bill rather well.

A new wine for me from an ancient and dying region in Portugal. In favor of beach homes and development, the old timers that tended the vines in this region are selling their property as its pretty hard to market and sell these wines. A sad state of affairs especially for what I tasted here. Thank you @TJ Maxwell for the introduction!

Wow yum. Powerful black pepper and juicy cherry and blood orange. Some wild herbs. Light, crystalline ruby at 10 years.
