Abeja
Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
This vintage is my kind of Cab. Purple and rich with concentrated cassis and black cherry. The nose and the palate show layers of red currant, mocha, mint, eucalyptus, licorice, and gravel with solid acidity to back up the flavors. Lots of nutmeg and cinnamon but the oak is well integrated. The finish is long, earthy, and spicy with fine, powdery tannins, and fresh acidity. The alc. sticks out a bit at 14.5%. Very approachable on its own but great with sausage pizza or meatloaf or BBQ ribs.
I’ve had this wine before. I’m a hard sell with new world Cab. Lay this down or drink now. Super impressed with this complex showing.

This is a delicious wine from a good vintage. And no doubt it’s well made, it just isn’t my style with lower acidity. Deep, concentrated notes of black cherry, cassis, and plum soaked in cocoa nibs and vanilla. Dense and chocolatey but no refreshing lift of acid.

Dec 19th, 2017This is one of those where the aromas make your eyebrows raise, in a good way. Elegant nose of cherries, spice, rose petal. Strangely Pinot-like. Palate wise it’s all Cab Sauv offering up dark berry/cherry, licorice, baking spice, and an herbal note. Soft tannins rounds it out. Made from some of the finest vineyards in the state, one to seek out for sure. QPR in check as well.

Oct 14th, 2017Simply put lush. It took 1 hour and 47 minutes to open up and express its lovely nose, soft texture. Glad I have a case to enjoy for a few years. Abbott did it again.

1 person found it helpfulApr 16th, 2015Double decanted & served with dinner . Explosive nose showing black currant & mocha powder. Rich, deep palate with waves of black fruit & textured oaky spice. Plenty of youthful tannins which resolve with each bite of steak & as the wine breathes. Despite the showy fruit & tannins, this has a freshness & drinkability which is fantastic.
This has a healthy dose of Merlot blended in & a dollop of PV. From an excellent mix of top vineyards around the CV including one of Abeja's estate sources. Excellent vintage after vintage.

A bit of merlot and pv they buy 2/3 of their fruit a very cold vintage red currant and cassis berry fruit with a good hand of fresh earth and spice. A big wine but still quite fresh and elegant style with great freshness and lots of that spice and nuance through the finish very well balanced with a long layered finish. Most excellent

Dec 27th, 2016A very deep, rich, and concentrated wine. A wine to chew on but a very tasty chew. Unfortunately the oak stuck out like a soar thumb and seemed to get worse with air. #abeja #columbiavally #washington #cabernetsauvignon #ctbucklinwine
