A.A. Badenhorst Family Wines
Secateurs Swartlandse Shiraz Blend
Heavy raisin notes, prunes, juicy red fruit, lighter body, some light herbs….lacked a bit of structure. Would I have this one again? Likely not.

Sep 15th, 2024Barnyard wafts!
Deliciously light for the varietals, ripe seeded berries, tarragon, Thai basil.
Citrus acidity, and feathery tannins.
Really quite enjoyable, never been disappointed by this winery, and every vintage gets better reflection .

Plum, almost prune. Spice box, tobacco, dusty raspberry. Weeknight bottle, nice compliment to the dry rubbed roasted chicken.

Nov 23rd, 2017Really enjoyed this spice underbrush, dried herbs very approachable ( soft tannins especially for a relatively young wine ) but super enjoyable with the meat loaf at Bear and Star

1 person found it helpfulApr 13th, 2019Ruby in color with medium intensity and a wide reddish rim.
Earthy nose with blueberries, plums, currants, oak, vanilla, vegetables, earth, bitter herbs, almonds, metals, tar, pencil lead, peppercorn and bitter chocolates.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity and nice legs.
Dry and earthy on the palate with plums, strawberries, raspberries, vanilla, oak, licorice, cloves, earth, leather, green pepper and peppercorn.
Short finish with round tannins and spices.
A Nice Shiraz blend from South Africa, and a good every day red wine. Nicely balanced with mild complexity. Earthy and a good wine for food, but also by itself.
It has a light mouthfeel with a kick on the ending.
A blend of 83% Shiraz, 10% Grenache and 7% Cinsault. Grapes are grown on granite soil and fermented in concrete vats.
13.5% alcohol by volume.

A touch metallic on the finish, but whooping dose of strawberry and smoke. #movingday

May 1st, 2017This Rhône blend based on Shiraz and Cinsault from South Africa, makes a perfect low-cost introduction to the wines of Swartland. Aromas of raspberry, licorice, spices, black pepper and earth lead to a savory, creamy palate with terrific intensity and lift. Balanced to enjoy now or to hold. (ST)
