For my 2500th review on #vivino, here is a wonderful Italian gem.
Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish /brick rim.
Nice nose of blackberries, blueberries, black currant, black plums, raspberries, earth, forest floor, smoke, vanilla, licorice, cloves, herbs, spices, dark coffee, pencil lead, vegetables, vinaigrette and black pepper.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity, long legs, smooth and velvety.
Dry on the palate with plums, cherries, strawberries, currants, vanilla, wood, spices, peppercorn, green herbs, vegetables, spices, tobacco, herbs and peppercorn.
Long finish with soft tannins and black pepper.
This 18 year old Amarone, is drinking very nicely now. Still enjoyable all by itself or with food. Nicely balanced with lots of vegetable notes. Spicy and complex with a velvety mouthfeel.
Good right out of the bottle, and better as it opens up (60 minutes). This will not last for long, so if you have any, drink now.
Thank you Michael, for sharing this delicious wine with me.
I paired it with a charcuterie board of Meats and cheeses.
Indigenous vine, It explain perfectly the Carussin's philosophy. Fresh on the nose but with a big body in the mout. Perfetc drinkability, intense...I like it!
