Lots of potential to go higher here with more time in the bottle. On a Faugeres kick this weekend. Where Barral was more dense and powerful, the Fantine is the female version with more elegance and poise, with a firm backbone of tannin and juicy acidity. Wild flavors of violets, licorice, spice with blueberry and blackberry fruit. Darker but more elegant fruit character intensity. One of the best wines I have had so far in 2015.
If garrigue were a perfume spiked with red fruits, licorice, spice and exotic flowers it would be how this wine smells. The palate is perfect, if anything a little young as the tannins are a tad firm, but not intrusive. A long, clean finish, purity comes to mind. #faugeres #barral — 9 years ago

Stunningly pure and varietal/terroir driven wine. This is quite characterful with blackberry, kirsch, then sweet mint, garrigue, licorice and violets highlight the fruit. An expressive nose, the aromatics are deep and layered.
