Aromatics have a lot of lemon, some white fruit but also still a clear oaky feel to it. The wine is powerful, full bodied, good acidity, nice richness and the balance is good but there is a slight alcohol dominance on the finish. Nice bottle but not great. And not the most expensive Grand Cru but I will take many Premiers crus before that, shows there are no short cuts in Burgundy.
— 4 years ago
Light hay colored with little tinges of silver. On the nose you’ll get Granny Smith apples, pears, a little kiwi, and minerality. This is one of the best combinations of fun and elegance that I’ve found in a Grüner Veltliner. This 18 is so very young and it shows but it’s still mature enough to go. Very creamy on the mid palate with some round acidity. Air definitely improves things and on the second day it’s downright lush. Very dry, the round acid and texture really takes her to the next level. Honeydew, white pepper, and honey on the palate initially, with grapefruit and smoke coming to play. — 4 years ago
Nose of gun powder, pencil lead, raspberries, cherry, hay. Wow this is nice. The palate is very charming with a very long acid backbone, a very nice fruit radiating all along, a good width with some nice velvety touch on the sides, some nice pointy tannins that kick things up a notch and a very nice tangy finish with red fruits and that hay thing again. This is very consistent and pleasing. Very good surprise — 4 years ago

Has a cool vintage personality to it, the acid is elevated and tannins are still firm albeit softening from the wines upbringing. Im a fan, there’s a lot of complexity on the nose, taking this classically-styled Rioja beyond what archetypal things might come to mind with this benchmark wine. Soulful and almost old school Bordeaux-like. Current, dried raspberry, stewed plum and dried black cherry, gravel pushing into graphite, tobacco, sous bois, wet leaves, juniper, leather, American oak, pipe smoke. Considerable freshness for such a tertiary wine. The elevated VA could be a problem for some, I enjoyed the lift. — 4 years ago
