Medium body, blackberry bomb. — 5 years ago
Perfect state of fruit ripeness of fruit with a fresh and lively vibe. Goes deep with a defined earthy, iron like minerality and a savory saltiness. Complete coverage on the palate, where the fruit is brought forward by the ripe, fine grained and playfully charged tannins and a fresh spine. Complexity and drinkability combined. Outstanding for a Rosso di Montalcino and a great QPR. Day 2 and the wine is more comfortable and reveals another dimension. An elegant wine from a classy artist! Salute! — 6 years ago
Intense potpourri, and somewhat woody nose; silky, creamy palette; acids have become very soft. Delightfully rich without being to heavy. — 5 years ago
It’s time to get my #FridayCabernetfix. Here is a nice one from Napa Valley.
Dark purple in color with a purplish rim.
Fruity nose of black plums, black currants, coffee, oak, cedar, leather, tobacco, vanilla, licorice, spices, dark chocolates, peppercorn and pencil lead.
Full bodied and smooth with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, cedar, vanilla, spices, tobacco leaf, espresso, cola, light vegetables, pencil lead and peppercorn.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cranberries.
This Napa Cabernet is very enjoyable by itself or with food. Showing nice complexity and a great mouthfeel. Spicy and rich.
Needs a couple of hours to open up and show the tannins, but tasty right out of the bottle.

This 5 year old is drinking very nicely now and will get better in the next 5 years.
I sipped on it all by itself. Delicious.
14.5% alcohol by volume.

A stunning wine, the 2017 Ornellaia offers a captivating interplay of richness and energy. Picking early was the key. Young vine Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc were harvested in August for the first time ever. In the glass, the 2017 offers up an enticing mélange of mocha, cedar, tobacco and licorice, with soft curves that add to its sensuality and allure. The 2017 is sumptuous and racy, as Ornellaias from warmer years tend to be, but it is not at all heavy or overdone. In a word: superb! (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, March 2020)

Comparing this ‘12 against the PH Stagecoach ‘12 was just a spoil of riches. Very different wines in flavor profile, but very similar in texture. Whereas the PH was very dark fruit dominant with mineral notes, this was more finesse driven showing bright black cherries, mocha, cherries jubilee sweetness and some sandalwood on the nose. So well balanced on the palate with more sweet red fruit and Andes mint chocolate mint at the finish. — 5 years ago

This was a wine that I have been holding onto for years and finally deemed my belated birthday dinner to be the perfect or imperfect time to enjoy it. Le ragnaie is for me the very best that Brunello can be especially with this type of age on it: all dried red fruit and dried herbs and leather and all perfectly in balance! Plus Ricardo The man behind the line is just a super nice person! You can read more about it on my blog if that’s the sort of thing you do 🥰 — 5 years ago
