A very approachable Vin Nobile from a great vintage: layers of dark fruits, forest floor, a menthol edge; medium plus acidity & solidly medium bodied. For 20$ quite a deal, though I imagine a few years more might add some complexity.

Full, soft tannins, higher acidity, lighter than full body and notes of sour cherry, baking spice, plum and slightly meaty. Solid

Much better than my last rating of this wine…Nobile …100% Sangiovese, but soft palate with recognized classic character in this vino…fine to elegant with great taste, medium-full bodied, berries deep and dark…dry balanced vino. Drink again! Great winemakers…Avignonesi!

2016…nice, dry, medium body not dark in color, big enough flavor dark berries…not quite up to expectations of the winery and wine - a bit too similar to a taste of not-yet-ready Brunello…

Ahhh…Toscana with the Sangeovesi tannins tamed almost perfectly for a textured and balanced almost full bodied dry flavorful dark berry vino…smooth almost lush wine for the genre…the fine wines produced by Avignonesi near Montepulciano, Italy. Nice value, drink again…

Avignonesi Vino Nobile Di Montalcino DOCG 2016: Medium-body. Medium tannins. Great overall balance. Black cherry. Plum. Mocha. Tobacco. Earth. Spice. Smooth elegant finish. This was an easy wine selection for me as I have familiarity with this 100% Sangiovese wine; lucky to have visited them back in 2014. Paired perfectly with our dinner of salsiccia wood-fired pizza & their house-made Tagliatelle! All in all, an extremely enjoyable experience all around. Great food & great wine! Cheers🍷

Haven’t had this in many years but it is still a superb offering with great complexity, takes a bit of time to open up but still stellar on the first pour...👍
