Casanova di Neri
Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese
Aged in oak barrels for about 30 months, deep Ruby with rich ripe berry fruit aromas and hints of earthy floral scents. On the palate flavors of ripe black cherry, plum and blackberry fruit with complex herb spice, licorice, tobacco and cacao. Lively acidity with fine tannins, toasty oak notes take this wine to a rich long finish ending with a savory earthy mineral character. Outstanding.

May 6th, 2021Good deep red. Saline aromas and flavors of red cherry, blueberries, herbs, blood orange and sweet spices. Smooth and long on the bright, very sweet finish. Really quite good. (Ian D'Agata, Vinous, April 2020)

The 2015 Brunello di Montalcino from Casanova di Neru is very pretty, showing bright cherry and strawberry tones, as red florals and dusty spices that rise up from the glass, with just a hint of forest floor. On the palate, silky textures give way to red berry fruits and sweet spices, given lift through vibrant acids, as saline-minerals and hints of fine tannin saturate the senses. It finishes long, juicy, and fresh, with savory spice and residual acids buzzing on the senses while dried red fruits and florals slowly fade. The 2015 Casanova di Neri doesn’t succeed through power; instead it’s a feminine beauty of a wine. (Eric Guido, Vinous, April 2020)

Dec 26th, 20202015. 9.1+. Just too young. Same problem as with Altesino: takes forever to open up, very salty and tart, then thins out and fades. Very good producer. Going to stop opening the better 2015 Brunellos and will revisit. $50 on Delectable.

Oct 25th, 2020Still young but drank nicely with time to open. Medium-to-full body, dry, nice tannins. Tobacco, oak, red fruits. Will be lovely in 3-5 years.
