This was a very straightforward and classic Brunello, with nice dark fruit, lively flavors and soft edges. While It was nice to find one with a bit of age in my local, it was nothing special, maybe a bit underwhelming.

Pleasant surprise for the money: classic Brunello red fruit with some depth, acid upfront for food, some earth. As good as many pricier 2013 Brunellos. $35 at Wegman’s, $37 Vine Republic.

Open for about 8 hours... Herbal and savory characters through and through. Nose evolves with aromas of mushroom, dried sage, blackcherry, and anise. Dark berry fruits meet dried herbs and leather, with a mid-palate that has bright juiciness. Then tannins are integrating well. A bit on the leaner side. Solid QPR. Drink or hold.
