Deep Ruby with aromas of dark fruits, complex spice and earthy notes. On the palate flavors of cherry and sweet raspberry with notes of tar, leather, licorice and toasty oak. Fine elegant tannins, long finish, good balance ending with fruit, spice and earthy notes, wrapped tightly together. Very nice Tuscan wine! Tasting Sample!

Fontalloro is exquisite in 2017. It is also such a contrast to the Rancia, as the two wines could not possibly be more different. Fontalloro is bright and vibrant, with more sweet red Sangiovese character than the darker Rancia. It is also incredibly delicious now, even though it clearly has the energy to age for many years. The 2017 is one of the finest Fontalloros I can remember tasting. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, September 2020)

Hot vintage, warm, aromatic, baked earth, dark cherry, dried herbs, a bit of olive tapenade, yet incredibly fresh, cool, enticing.
Medium bodied on the palate with incredible freshness, juicy acidity, pure fruit. Great depth & character, so drinkable, so fresh.
Year in, year out - even in a difficult hot vintage - this is just brilliant.
One of my all time favourites!

2017: Another good (warm) year for this excellent Sangiovese, drinking young at this stage. Cherry and raspberry fruit, minerals, acid, a touch of tar and mint. Vibrant, with good fruit concentration. Should be a star in 2-3 years. $45-50.

Like a mouthful of black cherry juice and wooded forrest silk. With a hint of menthol. This is serious wine.
