Heck of a hosting by @Weston Eidson last night for the City Club wine group. All wines were tasted blind.
My other Co-WOTN. For me, these wines are up there with the best in Napa. The history, the people and the wines are just top shelf. Loved our visit here earlier this year. Having had the ‘13, ‘14 and ‘16, this seems to be the most accessible and certainly more so than the ‘13. This was powerful the entire evening and the fruit stayed ripe and sweet covering the red, blue and black spectrum. Graphite, dark chocolate up front, but it did turn more elegant at the finish showing potpourri and baking spices. Sheer To Kalon power.

Storming @Mike R and Rhonda’s cellar, which is broad and deep. First time trying this, and @Anne-marie Beausejour and I are in love. Excellent showing. Texture, layers and a pristine tannic structure, make this a near perfect wine. Stunning. Thank you Mike and Rhonda!

One of the most intensely concentrated Napa Cabs I have ever tasted. From the BEST parcel of To Kalon up against the hillside (Mondavi has been buying the family fruit for years). Gigantic old narled Cabernet vines....a true Napa treasure.

Decanted for 8 hours. Absolutely stunning in every way! The purity and freshness of fruit on the nose is incredible. Blackberry, violets, graphite, licorice and a hint iron. The palate is broad and perfectly balanced with persistent sweet tannins and and perfect acidity. Everything I could want in a wine.
