Color of hazy inky purple with some green brownish note on the rim. Nose of nice dark chocolate, black cherries, herbs, and a bit spice, all moderate strength. Taste of young and dominant acidity, powerful tannins, black cherry, and some bittersweet zesty note. Sweet cherries come stronger on the second wave, same is the bitterness probably from sulfates. Aftertaste is zesty(a bit too strong on my opinion), a bit dark chocolate, some cedar wood on the back of the tongue, and medium short. A wine that is above average to drink on a normal day. A wine that has enough flavors to qualify as a quality bottle but no WOW factor for a prime time.

One hour of breath and now we're talkin. Smells like a S'more PopTart. Chocolately, creamy, some bright berries. The initial mouthfeel is mildly abrasive. It hits hard with big, soft oak. Confectionery. The tannins hang around for over 1 minute. This cab is RAD!!

100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Columbia Valley with rich aromatics of black currant fig and cocoa nibs. Much of that rich fruit continues into the palate with the addition of hints of graphite and molasses with just enough mellowed tannins to pair perfectly with grilled strip steak & Japanese sweet potato fries. 2014 vintage is drinking wonderfully right now, especially after allowing it to decant for an hour!

Followed an excellent $70 Cabernet from Calistoga, so some palate recalibration was required. This sets the minimum standard for what's 'high' quality in domestic Cabernet Sauvignon. Black cherry cut with cranberry, along with black licorice, loam based minerality, and just the right amount of grip.

Starting to really like Washington State Cab for its structure and subtlety.

Cherry, plum. Smooth. Dry in the mouth with nice mineral foundation. Herbs. Earthy. Some tobacco leaf, but not overpowering. Opens up really well.

Deep ruby. Cassis, dark cherry, dark spice, forest floor on the nose. Low alcohol for a cab at 13.5%. High acidity and tannins. Med high body, with a long astringent finish. Complex in the highs and lows across the palate from the initial tart cherry components to the woodsy tobacco additions. Lay down a few years to develop further.
