I was excited to open this after looking at it for 10 years in my cellar. 2 hour decant. Very tannic and unyielding in pour. Very dark in the glass. Still brooding. Not as much balance and expression as I am used to with Schrader. Blackberry, cassis and graphite notes but none are hitting me in the right place. Maybe in a dumb phase? @Ron Hromoko revisited it 24 hours later and had a very positive report. So perhaps it just needed air and time

Magnum 2002 Schrader To-Kalkin Beckstoffer CS. Bday dinner for R at Rep. Decanted for a while before serving. Served alongside the magnum ‘97 Spottswoode. We preferred Spottswoode, as this wine was massive.
