20 Years Old Tawny Port Blend

20-year tawny a personal favorite. I’m always amazed how good this is whenever I have a glass. Taylor run today from Oporto by descendants of the Yeatman & Fladgate families, both of which have been partners in the firm since 1830s. Complex aromas rich with dried fruits & nutty spice. On the palate apricot and sweet berry flavors with honey and toasted nut notes, well balanced nice acidity. Lingering finish ending smooth with oaky nutty character. Very Nice. Delicious tawny port with ultra long finish. The obvious pairing is with chocolate, but I’d like to experiment with different cheeses also.

For dessert, Hedy prepared Chocolate Hazelnut Torte, Hazelnut Brittle, Hazelnut Crema. Amazing creation.

This screamed for a Tawny Port. It was a marriage made in heaven. These two tangoed on the palate. The wine not too sweet, showing nice amber qualities and hazelnut characters.

Such a beautiful evening and a great night of great guests, food and wine!!!

Although I am not really a tawny kind of guy, it is hard to deny the greatness of this wine. A lovely red amber color with a nose of toasted nuts, caramel and golden raisins. The attack is a bright sweet symphony of toasted nuts and golden raisin. This attack gives way to salted caramel and a long soft tannic finish. My only complaint is there is some serious heat on the finish that makes it slightly unpleasant.

Fig, chocolate, coffee. A bit hot on the finish but very solid.

Pronounced and nutty with cooked apricots and butterscotch. Bright and lovely. $70
