Amber tawny color, similar to the 97 Giacosa next to it. Old Barolo nose. Notes of old rose petals, anise, asphalt, some molasses. Nice mouth feel, still has a strong backbone with appropriate acidity. A little musty but not in a bad way. Pretty good tonight.

Brownish amber color, translucent. Aromatic nose with notes of soy, faint black cherries, tar, a little menthol and some molasses. Very linear in the mouth. Flush face. Nice old wine finish. More structure than fruit. With air some wood notes appear and the soy dominates more. Interesting wine but fruit is in the rear view mirror.

The 1989 Scavino BdF is firing on all cylinders. A stunning, mature bouquet with dried cherry, tobacco, dark chocolate and pine. Showing unreal richness and depth on the palate with perfectly resolved tannin. The finish goes on and on with a bump of mouthwatering acidity adding freshness.
