The 02 was back when Tony Soter made the wine and this is a beautiful wine. It starts with a mocha tone and finishes with dark raspberries. While it’s obviously aged, it still has a wonderful finish and a great balance. Truly a treat for day 👆👆of quarantine - I think. Thank the lord my wine storage is considered important enough to still be open.

Yet again 2002 blows me away. This is drinking, to me, well beyond its years and has plenty to go. The tannins have mellowed out to fine dusty silk. Plum, mocha and cassis with a sweet, creamy touch of well integrated oak are the perfume and the palate.

Plush on the nose. Great color. Seems to be lacking in the middle. There is a nice fruit component that to me is hiding. A nice long, very long finish....... all in all, I’m feeling that this one is upside down at the moment or just a little off. Still extremely tasty.........ADDITION: after several hours the fruit has emerged and is pleasingly rewarding. Perhaps I should have decanted.

Dark chocolate, cherry, plum, leather, tobacco, roasted meat, sweetness of age but plenty of life left, especially for a half bottle!
