A tasting of nine Rhys Pinot Noirs from the 2008 & 2009 vintages. Jeff Brinkman, Rhys winemaker joined our group. I thought the Bearwallow Vineyard from the Anderson Valley was rich and savory - it was our #1 in the lineup.

A brooding, quite thick nose. Soy? Garrigue and something feral and bloody. On the palate, deep and minerals, animal. Really lovely. Would like more of this

Developing nicely but still very young. Lots of cherries and a touch of cola.

This was a somewhat off bottle--I like wines with brett influence, but the ink and cloves and horse here obliterated any of the fruit. Hope to try again in the future!

Just lovely, spicy and fleshy. Holding up great, will easily go and improve for several more years. Reminds me why I love Rhy's wines so much!

Tasted blind. Should have known this wine, but it completely threw me for a loop. Clove/cinnamon on the nose.
