Absolutely phenomenal and likely at the peak of its bell curve. Dark berry fruits on the nose with subtle secondary aromas of tobacco, dark soil and aged wood. Totally Bordeaux and totally delicious

Although a little tired, this Bordeaux was nevertheless delicious. Leather, tobacco, forest floor, prunes, old closet, cloves. Haut-Batailley is generally very good and especially for the $s. Same goes for this 1996, a wonderful and somewhat unsung vintage.

Fair bit of Bret at first, though it became integrated into a grand scheme of tobacco, fresh linens and cedar. This will be a stunning wine for years to come.
