13’ Antica Terra Obelin Pinot Noir. Maggie Harrison was the assistant winemaker at Sine qua Non. Decanted it for a hour. Ruby red in color. Aromas of ripe red cherry, cranberry, rose, sandalwood, spot of earth. The nose sells this Pinot! Medium weight. A core of red fruits & ripe cherry. Secondary notes of violets & baking spices throughout the palate. Elegantly styled(somewhat light on its feet) with supple tannins & a robust finish, that builds richness as it opens up in my glass (20 minutes) 🤔. Had to write about it. Another very well-made wine. Made up entirely of Shea fruit that was originally intended to be used in either the Ceras or Botanica composites. Neither worked, so they bottled this...

Wow. From Maggie Harrison at Antica Terra, this is one of the best ones I’ve had from that winery. It doesn’t quite have the depth and complexity of her top-end wines (e.g., Cerras)…but it is also spectacular at this young of an age (as opposed to the higher end ones, which I think need several years in bottle before they really start to sing). In this regard, this wine is kind of like an off-scale Rosso di Montalcino that you enjoy while you wait for the brunellos to come of age. This wine was fantastic. Amazing fruit, perfect balance, and expanded beautifully on the palate. Just terrific.

From magnum and from maker! Watched it poured into our beautiful dish of chanterelles and enjoyed it alongside. This wine is very attractive and structured at the same time. I would say in a few years it will be really interesting to reapproach.
