I have a soft spot for the wines of Gerard Potel, but this just wasn’t showing. Not dead, nor alive. Perhaps asleep? Flavours were all kind of muddled. Oak, earth, dried cherries, and acid was all I could think about when tasting the bottle. Felt quite rustically built. CW mentioned that it may have just been stubbornly closed, or beginning to fall off. Regardless, we did not finish the bottle.

Complicated aroma and taste instead of fruitiness. 1 hours decanting is necessary. Depending on food pearling. 2009 @2750, wine plus - LT golf, 211207-211219

A bit green, a bit tannic, a bit acidic. Great nose but felt like the palate needed at least a couple more years of rest to come together.

Volnay’s are some he best priced and versatile wines in Burgundy. Very inviting and approachable from the start. Crushed fresh berries and supple tannins.

So good! Just reaching its drinking window. Bright cherry, mineral, floral & spice.

Subtle, refined, elegant. Chalky tannins with grip. This wine was a whisper among the other in the flight.
