Hands down best Gigondas. Smokey blue and violet fruit. Dark cocoa. A hint of lilac. Gorgeous mineral balance with floral and dark licorice nuances. Very lightly extracted. Transparent and ripe, dry and envigorating. As a matter of fact, one of the best Southern Rhone reds I’ve tried.

Pedal to the medal old school stoney Gigondas. All Grenache from 110 year old vines. Nose of spice and stones. High toned. Raspberry liquor. Cassis, hint of barnyard that is so alluring. Leather, herbs de Provence and even some florals on a bases of stones. Complex and dizzying aromas. Palate has tons of energy, incredible concentration and terrific freshness. So stoney. Super elegant but also a powerful wine with substantial tannins but really shows the truck driver in a tutu thing that high alcohol, powerful old vines Grenache can do. Lovely, long and lingering finish. This will be better in 5 years or so but a fun drink today. Love this and maybe my favorite Gigondas.

My favorite Gigondas in the world. From 110 year old vines and a sick old school estate. Sick nose. Super sick nose. Herbs, cherry liquer, blackberry, so many herbs, insane depth and layering, loam, mineral, just sick. So so good. In a great place. Palate is a dream. So creamy and resolved with super melty tannins. Such freshness and depth. Creamy, stoney with so much old vine Grenache fruit. So long. Inner mouth aromas so good. So precise. Just sick. Super stoney finish. The fruit is black raspberry, cassis, so much and so focused.

From almost 110 year old Grenache vines this is so epic. What a nose. Raspberry coulis, huge stones, even mandarin orange, very stoney and complex. Insane spice. Flowers as well. Super aromatic. Wonderful purity and freshness with stunning balance. Juicy and crackling. Very fresh. Beautiful tannins. Big raspberry and cherry fruit. Almost cassis. For such a large wine this is quite nimble. This is so massive and pumps out the fruit and tannins and stones. Just awesome. For Grenache it’s hard to get better in Gigondas.

100 GR planted in 1910, WC fermentation, 50% uncrushed. At first, wound, really expressing old vine GR character; hot stones, white pepper, roasted herbs, pitch, iron, animal. With air the red fruit really starts to come out, moving from ripe to liquor, flowers, licorice, coffee, smoke, and coniferous forest. This has sinew and a little grit to the tannin, but there’s a beautiful acidity that this vintage seems to carry. Excited to see this progress.

Killer old vines Grenache. All 100+. No new oak. Big liquer, stoney nose. Floral. Herbal, Wild. Feral. Intensely expressive untamed Grenache fruit. Great great nose. Palate is just so epic. Incredible fruit. So dense. So sweet. Balanced. So pure. Long and structured. Sappy and so pure. Really profound Grenache.

Drinking well. Lots of dark fruit (blue, purple red), a little hot and dumb. Excellent in glass and in value.

Floral nose. Dark garnet color (but not inky). Meat and fruit on palate. Structure evident. Not sanguine on longevity of southern Rhone wines anymore. Would think this is in the zone now to 2020, but I don't know anything about wine. Maybe it goes the distance
