Some Spanish funk mixed in with nice tannins. In great shape for being 5 years old.

A very strong, bold Tempranillo that captures the region's essence. However, the bitter undertones dominate, taking away from the peppery balance I was hoping for. The sour bitterness did not improve after the wine breathed. UPDATE: This wine tasted much better the next day, after having more time to breathe.

Aromas of rich earthy cherries, and cedar. Tastes of dried black fruits with a hint of spice. A bit thin on body but has good balance and a long dry earthy & tannic finish. Paired with popcorn and House of Cards! Great value as well. ($7) 😊

Always a good value and the 2018 vintage is no exception! Well balanced with some of those classic Rioja flavors of dried cherry, roasted tomato, and hint of cigar box on the finish. An effortless and quite excellent pairing with chicken enchiladas!  [4/16/23] ($8)

This is a simple Rioja red. Showing red and black fruits with earth, wet leaves, herbs, peppercorn, pencil lead, dark coffee and spices.

Full bodied and spicy with medium finish.

Earthy on the palate and dry.

Good right out of the bottle and gets earthier as it opens up. Tannins show up after an hour of airtime.

A good food wine for the weekday. I paired it with cheeses and light appetizers.

Drank 10/15/18.

Nice paring with a pancetta spiced pork chop. See my earlier rating for tasting notes very nice for the price.
