Sep 30th, 2023This is not cheap for what it is but I have a soft spot for this producer as the trousseau was among my first experiences with the region years ago. Plus I just dig the label. It has the expected reduction and yeast at first but dissipates quickly, revealing fresh red berries, rhubarb, pomegranate, rose petal, iron and that ineffable Jura funk. Enjoyed immensely while preparing and then devouring some rigatoni with pork sausage and mushrooms

I've had countless Barres before but this one totally superb! Fresh, marmelade and funk, some citrus and slightest hint of bubbles! 2013. Winner!

Buttered popcorn on the finish and a delightful funk on the nose. Great acid and light body made for easy pairing with French bistro food.

Fruit-driven, rustic nose. Delicious stuff, but lacks stamina as it seems to run out of juice and excitement after about an hour

Needs to open up a bit to shed some of the bio notes. Big boned with lots of volume supported by acidity. Chewy.
