I bought this Italian Primitivo (aka Zinfandel) from Laithwaites to try and it went down very easily I must admit!

In the glass it’s a deep black cherry red with notes of fresh berry fruits and milk chocolate dominating on the nose for me. Juicy cherry and plum flavours come through on the palate. It’s bold, fruity and scrumptious.

All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!

Another wine from my favorite region with lots of spiced berries and a nice smooth finish.

There's something to be said for a smooth mature wine. Really enjoyed this one.

Smooth and nice without the oak you see from cali. Pure warm fruits. Simple though.

Primitivo aka Zinfandel. Showing its warm climate origins grown in the "heel" of Italy. Ripe savoury fruit flavours. Could have been new world with that ripe fruit. Not and never will have much complexity but still enjoyable for what it is. 16.5+.

Really enjoying this. First for Primitivo. Cherries, high tannins, medium body. Pairs fabulously with red sauce pizza but even better with garlic. The red sauce with pepperoni, jalapeño, and olives intensifies and high-tens the alcohol. The garlic pairs beautifully.
