This wine is so golden yellow, it’s incandescent. The nose really jumps, too, with the floral and citrus aromas expected in Albariño plus whiffs of fennel, white pepper and herbs. The palate shows lemon, tangerine and oak spice, something which is not normally found in this grape. This was fermented and aged briefly in French oak barrels, not steel tanks. Acidity is a tad flat, but it doesn’t ruin the fun of sipping it.

Pale gold color and surprising strength of aroma- this is new wave Albarińo, fermented in barrel and just managing to balance the forward oak and vanilla with more classic aromas of orange peel, white flowers, pear, unripe peach and lemon. this is an intriguing wine, notable for its crisp, steely acidity and flint core. I longed for a bit more depth and finish but a joy to drink even so.

Vintage 2016 a bit stubborn (I like that) slightly oxydation impression in smell, tannic, vannilla, prominent bitters. Clearly a wine for dinner.

Rich and unctuous, ripe and lush with fairly integrated oak character.
