2005 vintage. From the Hunter Valley Lovedale vineyard, planted in 1946, this Sémillon is absolutely fabulous. Bright golden colour. Captivating perfume combining dried fruits ( lemon confit pineapple) and fresh lime , honey, bee wax , butter and flowers. Amazingly fresh with honeyed layered fruit balanced by bright acidity and a stoney minerality. Terrific length too. World-class Semillon. Only 11,5% abv.

Lunch with friends at home on Saturday. Thanks for bringing this aged gem @Jim Hunter Mid gold in colour. It’s amazing how Semillon puts on weight as it ages. Lanolin and beeswax - you would swear this was aged in oak barrels but it is stainless steel all the way. Not as complex as other old Lovedales or Tyrrells Vat 1 I have had but still impressive. More gold medals than Michael Phelps!!

I will never be bored of hunter valley semillon, the only problem is i cannot let it age cause i love it young too...and believe me this wine was a baby.
