Trying this 2005 side-by-side with the 2015 which is fun because they are very different. The ‘05 has a nice pretty and floral quality, then moves to a slightly more berry and caramel vibe. Good mint and herbaceous characteristics alongside spice, but not too hot. Very sticky and thick, but still feminine and voluptuous.

This 2015 is just fantastic. Blueberry pie and vanilla cream, but with dashes of hot red spices, new leather, and tobacco. Beautifully complex and long lingering.

Vintage 2001 / A treat. I did not smell much (plums, currants, spicyness), but a taste 🤭 Great concentration, velvety, lots of fruit. Partnered it with Stilton cheese.

Another birth year bottle on my 40th. Performed well despite some clear signs of seepage and has many good years ahead of it. Very enjoyable, but lacks the complexity of top vintages.

The Taylor's Quinta de Vargellas Vinha Velha 2011 has a vibrant purple/black viscosity that lures one into the glass. Upon putting the glass to the nose, one is marked by the slightly understated elegance of such a youthful wine. The nose is characterised by freshness, but backed by a brooding power that will slowly uncoil over the lifetime of the wine. Further layers bring smoke and bacon fat and are lifted by an enduring sense of grace. Once in the mouth the fully ripe tannins expose themselves, enveloped by the sweetness of raisins and figs. The smoke and sweetness, the chocolate raisins and the tannins swirl in an intoxicating whirlpool. The wine is clearly built for the long-haul, but not so long that you can’t see the finish line. The finish fans out like a peacock’s tail that despite is complexity leaves one with a feeling of freshness and a serious port that is light on its feet.

Great vintage port if you are looking for a 1961 this has to be one of the best.

Very similar to the 85 offley, rose colored and mature, with sweet strawberries, cream and and dried herbs, alcohol is outweighing it as well...drink up. 1984 vintage.
