Reddish tawny. Needed 6+ hours of air for the nose to open up. Notes of bing cherry, asian spice, dark earth and some rhubarb. Great funk and mouth feel. These 93s are barely budging out of their shells. This bottle needed at least 5 more years of slumber to round out, IMO.

Powerful, linear in feel and highly expressive. Love the tension, energy and persistence here. Time brings out the wine's perfume and inner sweetness, but the 96 is a Burgundy built on structure.
