As with the 2004 'Homer', the Shea 'East Hill' Pinot Noir is mature, and is drinking well now. The aromatics are decidedly on the masculine side with intense, savory notes of preserved meat, woodsmoke, incense, dried herbs, and black tea. This profile carries over on the palate giving the impression of a wine that is brooding and muscular. Layers of steeped black fruit are anchored by a firm acid backbone and moderate tannins. The finish is prolonged and tinged with balsam wood and pink peppercorn.

As with the 2004 'Homer', the Shea 'East Hill' Pinot Noir is mature, and is drinking well now. Some placed in Burgundy, some placed in New Zealand. Sometimes the new world fruit flashes, but generally it is a little more reserved than usually which seems typical of this vintage. It's quite enjoyable.
