Il Frappato di Vittoria

2013 vintage. Tart cherry, raspberry, stewed strawberry, violets, cola/Dr. Pepper. Lends itself well to a little chill. Light tannins and quite a bit of acid.

Markedly better than another "serious" producer's Frappato I recently had. Light in color and elegant on the palate. This is a wine that Pinot Noir cannot supplant for the cuisine of the Mediterranean. If you have not tried this variety, go for it. 20 bucks will serve you well.

Fripayado. Cooked strawberry. Super fruity and delicious cooked strawberry. Spiced tobacco finish. Green spice finish. Pinot like. Bujuelay like.

Pinot-like color, all singularly beautiful on nose and palate. Black olive and cherry, rose. Tart palate that is all about tautness and perfume, then crunchy cherry, lilac, rock candy and soil. Let me put it this way: the minerality sings, the rest is a side note. A not-so-prestigious #Sicilia wine stepping out front and center in my evening, and winning.

Light as a feather, smells like a Ferragamo wallet

Tannins dominate at present but there's a good, balanced wine underneath. Very acceptable funkiness. The next bottle needs 2-4 years. Half bottle.
