Mousy

Lots of Brett and lots of character.

Funkiness just to the edge but not beyond in my book. Otherwise a decently balanced profile on the rustic side.

Drink with a group of people so that you kill off the bottle quickly—the first 20 minutes are great. Smoked meats, juicy and brambly fruit, herbs. Then the mouse sets in. (I had 3 different bottles of this over the course of a few weeks and all showed mousiness after a half hour being open).

Cork smelled like black olives. Loved this.

Though not highly rated and introduced to us as a highly tannic wine, it went surprisingly well with dinner. Smokey and deep berry flavours really complemented our meal that included uni, oysters, foie, charred cabbage, bone marrow, cured tuna and roast duck with cherries.
