Tried it twice! I was pleasantly surprised how good this wine was. Ruby with aromas of fresh red and black fruits, spice and sweet oak, aged for 6 months in French oak. On the palate flavors of black cherry and blackberry with herb spice and toasty notes. Fine rustic tannins, long finish ending with fruit, cacao and sweet spice. Tremendous value!

Fresh cherry and raspberry aromas and flavors lead with spice and floral accents in the background. Monastrell usually produces deep, brooding wines in this hot region, but the 2018 is all about freshness and energy. Easy-going tannins lend shape and don’t get in the way of the vibrant fruit. $15.00 (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, March 2021)

This is supposed to be tremendous...

Not quite.

Still a good wine for what it is.

Juicy fruit. But a bit too much of juice. And fruit.

Had this in class for a demo of biodynamic management, latex on the nose. Spices: black and green pepper. Medium plus acidity, elevated slightly sweet tannins. Medium (plus) body.

A big beauty: black cherry, blackberry, black currant, leather, tobacco, mocha, vanilla, smoke and char. Smooth tannins.

Fruit forward--cherries and red plum, faint spicines or note of cacao. Silky palate, long finish.

Bloody marvelous for $11 a bottle here in Washington, D.C.
