A beautiful blend of Sangiovese, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot that accompanies a robust pasta dish with great zeal. Ruby red and long legs in the glass, it is medium bodied with chewy tannins. Highly rated by Wine Spectator, higher than the “experts” on here. Decant or leave open in a glass for 20 minutes before drinking. 👍🏻 — 5 years ago
Surprised me with amazing zeal the flavors of this Syrah . So many different berry flavors . Alcohol content on the heavy side but was not overbearing — 8 years ago
I could attempt a critical dismissal of this nz Pinot it is low altitude the grape is from Marlborough our sav executional local yet this is well made beyond a village with depth and complexity that would challenge a premier cru hats of to Gliesson for their patience and zeal perhaps there is something more in Marlborough to be experienced by a wider world — 10 years ago
The 1989 Pichon-Baron repeats its performance from the vertical tasting in May 2018. It storms from the glass, bearing copious blackberry, cedar and perhaps a little more mint than I noticed on the previous bottle. There is so much youthful zeal to this harmonious, refined Pauillac that you would barely guess it is 30 years old. Long and tender with a graphite-infused finish, this bottle might be even better than the ex-château example. Tasted at the 1989 Bordeaux dinner at Hatched in London. The 2014 d'Yquem has a complex bouquet with buttered toast, almond, honey and peach skin aromas. It opens with greater zeal than its peers, there is more immediacy here. The palate is very well balanced with crisp acidity, a finely tuned and satisfying Sauternes with style and grace, evincing great tension and mineral drive towards the finish. Superb. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, March 2018) — 7 years ago
