Yamhill Carlton, Willamette Valley

Purple Hands

Shea Vineyard Pinot Noir 2017

I love everything Cody and the team are doing at Purple Hands. This an earthy, balanced Pinot with loads of ripe berries and a whift of your grandfathers pipe tobacco. Clearly a shining star in the line up. — 11 days ago

Gran Moraine

Estate Reserve Yamhill-Carlton Pinot Noir 2014

Gran Moraine takes its name from cataclysmic floods that occurred in the northern Willamette Valley during the last ice age. Aged in 40% new oak, aromas of red very fruits, floral and black pepper notes. On the palate blackberry and ripe strawberry flavors with cola, tea and earthy notes. Soft tannins, silky texture, long ending with berry fruits and floral notes. Very nice. — 22 days ago

La Bohème Yamhill-Carlton Pinot Noir 2015

Excellent pinot. Silky smooth with dark cherry, blackberry and hints of tobacco and leather. Just a hint of earth. Great balance. Amazing with steak. — 11 days ago

Bergström Wines

Gregory Ranch Pinot Noir 2015

Dangerously good pinot. Loads of acidity and delicious red fruit accented by cedar, cardamom, more spices. Over the course of the bottle, the fruit turned darker and more forest floor funkiness emerged. Great stuff. — 18 days ago

Earthy notes, dark fruit. Alcohol forward initially, nice long finish with some leather and dark spice. Fuller bodied for a Pinot. — 13 days ago

Shea Vineyard Yamhill-Carlton Pinot Noir 2016

Clear bright ruby. Inviting nose of black cherry tea. Medium palate of the same with subtle hints of vanilla and anise. Sounds more simple than it is. Low tannins that mildly assert towards the finish. That plus the medium acidity makes for an outstanding dinner wine that will support a wide range of light to medium-hearty fare. Drink now through 2026. — 16 days ago

Johnson Vineyard Pinot Noir 2012

Plenty to like here. Definitely feel like I’m learning about a new terroir with this and I’m very open to it. Has a deep toasted wood and earth underneath the fresh pinot fruit that seems of place. Very pleasurable. A step up in pleasure from 2011 which I found to be a little thin perhaps a colder vintage. Love this — 7 days ago

Le Pre Du Col Vineyard Oregon Pinot Noir 2014

This is just getting to its drinking window. The nose is a little muted now but the palette is beautiful. Long finish that gets a little oaky, but give that a few more years. Pretty. — 25 days ago
