More bday celebrations!
Deep purplish ruby red. Dark nose with raspberries, black cherries and cocoa. A bit of spices too. Moderate tannins (6/10) and strong acidity. A touch of heat with lots of red fruits and perfumey notes. Great structure, seems to be a little closed right now. Give it a couple years before revisiting. Drink till 2025. — 8 years ago
First of the blind Witchery Wines we are reviewing today.
Dark purplish ruby red that coats the glass. Very tight on nose, took an hour or so to start opening up. Started singing on day two. Layers of purple floral notes, blackberries, mountain berries, sweet spices, solid oak influence, some dark earth and a touch of smoke. Heavy tannins (7.5/10) and reserved. Rich and super dark characteristics, with vanilla, dark cherries, dark cocoa, crushed rocks and earthy too. Medium to medium plus bodied with a long finish. If you have one of these give it some time to open up, if you can then wait a year or two. Drink till 2027. (93+) | Sample, release price is around $175. — 7 years ago
Jan 25, 2016--Rich, yet fine and delicate, one of the very best! Edinburgh, Scotland at the Witchery Restaurant — 9 years ago
Fourth of the blind tasting for Father's Day weekend.
Deep and dark purplish ruby red. Dark fruits with a touch of acetone or whiskey on the nose. Some cigars and dark cocoa as well. Heavy tannins (7.5/10) and medium bodied. A touch lighter than expected. Extracted dark fruits and bitter dark cocoa on the palate. A little unbalanced with a medium plus finish. This is still a baby and needs time to settle. Drink till 2029. — 7 years ago
Inaugural bottling of the Diamond Mountain Cabernet. Ruby red with light intensity on the edges. Nose was very feminine and coated with red cherries and floral notes. Moderate tannins (5.5/10) and a light plus to moderate body. Definitely thinner than expected. Elegant palate. Moderate finish with a slightly tangy bite. Maybe needs a little more time to develop in the bottle. Will try the next one in a year or two. But if it does not change drink till 2019. — 9 years ago
