Just a delight. Flavorful while still subtle. 2019 — 3 years ago
This 2013 Cyrus (signed by none other than Hank Wetzel) is drinking remarkably well tonight. Voluptuous, fresh dark fruits & tantalizing aromatics full of spices, tobacco, leather, menthol, and espresso. Tannins are still sorting themselves out but I enjoy some grip to my BDX blends. — 5 years ago
Dark and intense nose. Super clear, dark fruit and wonderful clarity. Unreal purity of fruit. Dark berry, cassis, spice, blackberry, blackberry flower, herbs and aromas keep opening and opening, low yields, very ripe, So fresh and energetic. 50% zweigelt, 40% cabernet dorsa and 10% Pinot Noir. So juicy and mineral but also with massive expressive fruit. Nose also has unreal. Likes to keep the wjne in used barrels for more fruit expressions. Great texture and ripe and velvety tannins. Wonderful feel to the tannins. Engaging acidity. Cabernet Dorsa has nothing to do with cabernet. Lemberger and dornfelder. Very long finish. Black berry and black fruits after air and also blackberry licorice. Mint, wild mint. Nose gets more expressive and complex with air. Wet earth starts to develop. Also an appealing bitterness develops after some air. So clean and fresh and finish is awash in minerals. — 6 months ago
Alexander Valley Vineyards is owned and operated by the Harry Wetzel family. Founded in 1975, it is located on Cyrus Alexander's old homestead. Deep Ruby, 13% Merlot added for body, aromas of dark berry fruits with sweet baking spice. On the palate black cherry and ripe blackberry flavors with cacao, oak and pepper spice. Fine chewy tannins good drinking now, medium+ finish, ok balance with soft . Tasting Sample. Nice value! — 4 years ago
Brought & Won @nathan’s christmas wine contest 2019 Katie’s... terrific flavor , smooth, not a huge finish but also perfect on tannins. — 5 years ago
1 Year in barrel, 1/2/3 time use of barrels. Makes their own barrels. He has 2 brothers and each one has his own winery. Nose is slightly oaky, but gorgeous spices, gorgeous deep cherry fruit. The spices are xmas spices. Really aromatic. very fresh and tons of energy and lovely red cherries. Very complex and pure and finishes mineral, earthy and dusty. Swiss oak is only used. Charcoal. Wood shaving. Very fine and refined and tiny berry fruit intensity. Great inner mouth perfume. Awesome concentration. Fantastic and the 21 has so much energy and freshness. — 6 months ago

In Switzerland this means “Selection” and has nothing to do with ripeness or sweetness as you can be more liberal on swiss wine labels. Great nose, woodsy, woodland berry, great minerals, hugely expressive, crazy good spices. Huge cherries and berries. Dusty and very pretty. Licorice. Herbals as well and very complex. Deep fruit. Juicy and expressive fruit and very cooling. Very fresh and textured and so juicy. Great freshness and intensity. So pure and round with awesome tension. Ripe but not too ripe and very pretty. Awesome purity and freshness. Long finish and excellent purity. 1/2 year old big wooden barrels. 20 year old. Nose has foresty aromas. Aromas linger in open glass. Red fruits but full and opulent. Great freshness. @Delectable Wine this is switzerland — 6 months ago
