Reserve Vaquero Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

The nose is stewed fig, chocolate, and oak. The palate offers more chocolate, vanilla, cola, black tea, ripe fig, and molasses. Medium plus alcohol, medium plus tannins, and high acid. I’m thinking meatloaf or pork loin as a match. — 6 years ago

Habanero pepper on the nose, tastes like the smell of an El Vaquero restaurant but in a good way — 11 years ago

Bear Ranch Vineyard Petite Sirah 2018

This one isn’t Pinot. It’s Petite Sirah from Bear Ranch in The Livermore Valley. And uhmm, it’s great stuff. Opaque purple-maroon in the glass. Smells like a proper petite with lots of cut wood and dark berry smells (blackberry, cassis, elderberry, etc). Flavors are hearty and tannic as one would expect from Petite. But also clean and gratifying. Has graphite, rocks and licorice to go with the berry sauce. Cassis (black currant) is well represented. This is classic great Petite Sirah. I gotta get more. Think it’s under $10 at grocery outlet right now… — 8 months ago

Muns Vineyard Pinot Noir 2012

We feel fortunate to have received this terrific wine. Loved it. A smooth full-flavored Pinot with a impressive body and excellent finish. Can’t wait until we’re able to buy more. — 7 years ago

Vaquero Vineyard Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Cheers to my Friday's Cabernet fix.

This Central Coast Cabernet, is deep purple in color with short purplish rim.

Nice nose of black currants, blackberries, cherries, vanilla, cola, cedar, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, leather, spices and peppercorn.

Full bodied (but not bold), with medium plus acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with plums, black currants, blackberries, cherries, vanilla, oak, licorice, spices, chocolates, tobacco, herbs and black pepper.

Medium plus in finish with round tannins, tangy cranberries and spices.

This California Cabernet is drinking nicely now, with mild complexity and nice balance. This Single Vineyard is showing a nice tangy finish that makes it interesting.

Needs an hour to open up properly, but drinking nicely right out of the bottle. Will drink well in the next few years. Definitely a good value Cabernet.

Enjoyable by itself or with food. I paired it with a steak on the grill, by the pool.

Aged for 15 months in French and American Oak barrels.

14.3% alcohol by volume.
