Nice one for trying this, @Paul T- Huntington Beach. I have some 03 and 05 in storage. I’ll gift you one, when I find em. These need age, but I think they show well in their youth.

Actually, let me correct my statement... I meant to say that they are even better with 7 - 10 years and above under their belt. Up and down their portfolio, their wines are all primo.

Viñas de Garza

Valle de Guadalupe/San Vicente Amado IV Red Blend

Do not underestimate Baja wines! This was a pleasant surprise. Sophisticated, stewed fruits, nice finish — 8 years ago

Adegas Gran Vinum Mar de Viñas Albariño Rias Baixas/Val do Salnes 2018
A glass w work lunch of homegrown tomatoe/avocado and tinned sardines.
Medium yellow color. Aromas of drupe fruits (peach/apricot). Mouth is more about peach pit with a hint of bitterness and a savory, salty element. Went better w the tomatoes than the sardines (umami harmony?)
Disclaimer that I import it.

Little more $ than the one "2006" but definitely worth it. — 7 years ago

Viñas del Cenit

Via Cenit Tempranillo 2011

2011 vintage. Nice purple color. Somewhat closed nose at the start. After a while it starts to open up with leather and black fruit. Balanced in the mouth: sweet, bitter and nice finish. You do not taste the 15% luckily. — 8 years ago

Soto y Manrique

La Viña de Ayer Viejas Viñas De Cebreros Garnacha 2016

DO Cebreros, which is a new Denominación de Origen in Spain. If I were doing a blind tasting I might think this was a Bourgogne (Burgandy)! Sparkling bright red color, medium clear. Aromatic notes of strawberries and raspberries with smokey vanilla and tobacco undertones. Subtle earthy aromas and flavors of mushroom and slate. The tannins are so elegant, so refined, with a luscious, inviting acidity. Long, finish. This will age and just get better and better. Wow! — 5 years ago

Estate Bottled Viñas Viejas Yecla Monastrell 2014

My first Monastrell and now a new staple. Love this wine. Really soft, with nice fruits.

Monastrell was likely introduced to Catalonia by the Phoenicians in the 6th century B.C., from whence it eventually spread through Roussillon to Provence and the Rhone.

This Monastrell comes from the Yecla DO in Murcia. Monastrell has been grown in the region for over 2,000 years, witnessing the rise and fall of the Roman Empire, al-Andalus, and many others.
