My first Monastrell and now a new staple. Love this wine. Really soft, with nice fruits.
Monastrell was likely introduced to Catalonia by the Phoenicians in the 6th century B.C., from whence it eventually spread through Roussillon to Provence and the Rhone.
This Monastrell comes from the Yecla DO in Murcia. Monastrell has been grown in the region for over 2,000 years, witnessing the rise and fall of the Roman Empire, al-Andalus, and many others.

Did not care for this wine. Had this on April 26, 2017. Not worth the $10 price.

Fascinating. We opened and drank most of the bottle on night one. Perhaps it was my fatigue or inattention but the wine seemed flat and lacking nuance. Tonight a small sampling from the same bottle caused my estimation to rise by 1/2 a point. Still not my preferred Monastrell but but worth another try.
